U.S. Embassy Invites Entrepreneurs in Brunei to Enter GIST Technology Idea (Tech-I) Competition

The Global Innovation through Science & Technology (GIST) Initiative is inviting entrepreneurs from around the world to enter its Technology Idea (Tech-I) contest to compete for prizes that can help entrepreneurs launch or grow their businesses.
The Global Innovation through Science and Technology Initiative is led by the U.S. Department of State and CRDF Global, an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to international scientific and technical collaboration and training. GIST builds entrepreneurial ecosystems across Asia, the Middle East and Africa by identifying and supporting promising entrepreneurs through competitions, skills development, networking within the GIST community, and interactive mentorship.
The Tech-I competition is designed to encourage and support technology and science entrepreneurs to launch and/or grow a company. Innovators with a science and technology product, research, or service with commercial potential can compete for the following prizes:
  • *  Training and mentorship with successful entrepreneurs, angel investors, and venture capitalists
  • *  Networking opportunities
  • *  Seed funding of up to $15,000 per winning applicant
  • *  Invitation to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Kuala Lumpur
U.S. Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Daniel Shields stated, “We are happy to support Brunei’s efforts to diversify its economy and to develop a new generation of entrepreneurs. The Tech-I competition is an excellent opportunity for anyone with a great idea for a science and technology product to develop the concept into a commercially viable business.”
The deadline for submitting the application form is June 17, 2013. Details of the competition and the application process can be found on the GIST website at http://gist.crdfglobal.org/gist- programs/gist-tech-i-competition
